Shabby Shack

I'm about to open up a can of worms ... worms, or whoop ass.  Maybe both. Stepping out of my comfort zone and thinking of opening a small town something or other in Northwest IN? The NW conjurs up the Crown Points, Laportes, and Chestertons of Indiana. We're not really central ... hummmm ...  I know we're exactly 1/2 way between Chicago and Indianapolis, what would you call that? Hoosiers?

But first, the photography off-season and Florida: the Mr. and my first attempt at snowbirding.  We have a cozy spot here in the Southwest? Um no, that's what we take to get here ... more like West Central Florida?  Well, we're not really central, more like the Tampa Bay area? What would you call that?  Floridians?

Some say, "We winter in Sarasota, or Siesta Key," and some add,  "in a gated community."   Ya know like the gold coast stores have on their windows; Tiffany's Expensive Store ~ Miami ~ Paris ~ Milan.

We're about to embark on something and our windows will read; "The Retro Depot"  ~ Small Town USA,  More to come soon, for it may just read Etsy.

But first, we're hittin' the trail in whatever area of the Sunshine State you want to call this. Tuesday's Trails took us to the Shabby Shack, just off the 301 in the lovely, and outlet capitol of manatee county, Ellerton.

This is where we met the eclectic and energetic Mark of the thrifty and overflowing, Shabby Shack. Vinyl records galore, knick knacks, tchatchkes, bunnies ... that's right bunnies for sale and everything extremely reasonably priced.

Happy to find a work table, for dirt cheap, and big enough to start some Retro Depot projects. Only one of the four legs was broken, but they attempted a nascar fix as I was driving off.   So yeah, if you're out and about in the bay area go over the river and look for the giant tree filled with spanish moss. This is old Florida.

Check out The Shabby Shack, tell them STORIES Photography sent ya, and ask to see the totem pole.  I would link it but there's no website or fb. We'll have to go old school word of mouth.

Here are some links for ya, though.
